How does this work?
Each NFT represents an animal currently at the shelter. By purchasing the NFT, you pay the adoption fee for the animal. We hope that by lowering the financial barrier to adopt, we will help find these animals their forever homes.
The Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, initial vaccinations, rabies vaccination, deworming, flea treatment, microchip ID, and a free wellness check from one of our local participating veterinarians.
What shelter are you sponsoring?
The Kootenai Humane Society is an independent, non-profit 501(c)3 no-kill shelter that rescues and adopts more than 2,000 pets each year. Their No-Kill Philosophy means they never place a time limit on how long cats, dogs, and other pets stay at the shelter.
KHS relies on donations to support adoption, animal rescue, and community support programs.
They are 100% community funded.
Can you tell me more about the shelter?
“KHS was established in 1975 by six compassionate individuals who began our Adoption Center through one bake sale after another to finance our building. KHS became a 501(c) 3 organization in April of 1979. And in 2003, KHS became a No-Kill shelter.
KHS provides care, shelter, and adoptions for over 2,000 animals each year. KHS takes in surrendered animals from owners that can no longer care for their animals or no longer want them.
KHS contracts with the City of Coeur d’Alene and Rathdrum to house their stray dogs. While in our care, these dogs have five days to be claimed by their owners. On the sixth day, KHS will place them on the adoption floor to find them a permanent home.
We also transfer in hundreds of animals each year from various locations across the country. Many animals in other shelters who are on death-row find a second chance at KHS.”
My NFT costs more than the adoption fee for my animal. What happens to the extra money?
This will cover the cost of minting the NFTs on Opensea. Any additional funds that are left over will be donated directly to the Kootenai Humane Society.
